August 8th, 2024 – Development Update

This week’s Screenshot Challenge winner is Forum user ZILLNIAZI17! If you’re interested in participating in our weekly Screenshot Challenges, check out the details in the Community section below!

Earlier today, we released a small update which contains the latest navdata and another round of improved airports from community members participating in the World Hub closed alpha test. You can see the full notes, including a list of every updated airport, on our forums here.

As we announced last week, our panel of Jorg, Seb, and Martial will be discussing Microsoft Flight Simulator and answering many of the community’s most frequently-asked questions during our next Developer Livestream on Wednesday, August 14 at 10:30am PDT (1730 UTC).  As always, this event will be broadcast live on our Twitch channel. If you would like to pre-submit a question to the panel in advance, you can do so using this web form. For those of you who plan on attending the livestream, we’ll see you in Twitch chat next week! If you won’t be able to watch live, we will upload the recording to our YouTube channel so you can watch at another time of your convenience.

Creator Highlight

Hailing from London, England and now living across the other side of the globe in Australia, this month’s Creator Highlight centers on TheFlightDoc, known to some as TheCarDoc, and to others as Andrew!

When not working as an Emergency Doctor in a local Hospital, Andrew spends his free time concentrating on the world of virtual aviation. The beginning of his flight sim journey began all the way back in FS98, but only recently moved to content creation after a PC upgrade allowed for him to create enthralling content from in the seat of his custom home cockpit. Andrew has seen a plethora of his content go viral, with some videos reaching over 10,000,000 views!

With an emphasis on creating engaging content from his ever-expanding home flight simulation setup, TheFlightDoc draws on many years of experience from creating videos for the Sim Racing community. He also enjoys collaboration and has synced up with YouTuber AlphaOriginals for a video as they navigate the VATSIM Multiplayer Network together.

Looking ahead to MSFS 2024, TheFlightDoc wants to continue creating high energy videos and is excited to add more depth with the potential for storylines and progression, whilst also highlighting to viewers that anybody can create an epic and immersive home cockpit no matter the budget.

We can’t wait to see what TheFlightDoc has in store for us as we head towards the launch of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on November 19th. You can check out all of his channels via his linktree!
