September 26th, 2024 – Development Update

This week’s Screenshot Challenge winner is Forum user KnackBretzel! If you’re interested in participating in our weekly Screenshot Challenges, check out the details in the Community section below!

It’s been another big week for Microsoft Flight Simulator news!

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is now available to pre-order on Steam! With pre-orders for Xbox and Windows Store going live last week, players on all platforms can now prepare themselves for the November 19 launch of Microsoft Flight Simulator 204 and also enjoy the De Havilland Canada CL-415 firefighting aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) today as a special bonus to everyone who pre-orders!

Yesterday, we hosted our September Developer Livestream! During this broadcast, our regular panel of Jorg, Seb, and Martial were pleased to be joined by guest Hans Hartmann to provide more details about an upcoming update to Expert Series 1: ATR 42-600/72-600. The panel also responded to many of the community’s most frequently asked questions regarding Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. If you missed the live broadcast, you can watch the VOD on YouTube here:

Topics covered during the livestream include:

  • ATR update information
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 PC system requirements
  • World & weather updates
  • Aircraft & flight model improvements
  • Information about Career mode
  • Additional clarification about ownership of MSFS (2020) content in MSFS2024
  • Announcement of World Update 19: Brazil, Guyana, French Guyana, and Suriname
  • And more!

Towards the end of the session, Jorg also announced that we will be hosting (almost) weekly Developer Livestreams for the next two months, each focusing on a different subject area and each with different guest panelists. The first such livestream, scheduled for next week on October 2 starting at 9:30am PDT (1630 UTC), will focus on the Software Development Kit (SDK) used by add-on makers for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. You can watch this livestream on our official Twitch channel. If you would like to pre-submit a question to the panel in advance, you can do so by completing the form at this link. Reminder: this upcoming livestream is about SDK-related topics only, not a general Microsoft Flight Simulator Q&A.

You can see the full schedule for all the upcoming Developer Livestreams below. Please note that this schedule is tentative and may change in the future. Be sure to check this blog every week for the most up-to-date information.

Finally, on Tuesday we released the latest addition to our Famous Flyer series of aircraft, the Boeing 707-320C! Sim pilots can now fly this early icon of the jet age. Pick it up from the in-sim Marketplace now for USD $14.99!

This week, we are pleased to feature the Sierra-C24R from developer Flysimware!

Flysimware and 3DR have modeled this vintage aircraft with extreme realism. With help from a friend who owns this aircraft, the developers were able to get laser scans for modeling an exact replica, images for small details and textures, and documentation for flight dynamics and other specifications.

The Sierra-C24R is great for short hops with a ceiling of 14K feet. With six panels (3-G3X GLASS PANELS & 3-G5 ANALOG PANELS) you have many choices to choose from to fit your needs as a pilot. All the panels use the Working Title technology except for the TDS GTN750Xi panels. This is a must have GA aircraft for your private hangar for many many years!

NOTE: Xbox users will only be able to load the GNS530 and GTN750 from PMS50 panels. The GTN750Xi from TDS will not work due to limitations!
